In Depth Lameness Evaluations
Lameness is any disturbance in the horses natural gait. A proper diagnosis of a noted lameness is best determined by your veterinarian's trained eye, with years of experience and expertise your veterinarian can pinpoint the cause of the lameness and initiate proper treatment.
USGI utilizes high quality ultrasound to visualize the anatomical structure and precisely deliver treatment to the targeted region. This is particularly important for areas of the neck, back and sacroiliac area. This optimizes precision of therapy and can be used for tendon, ligament, joint and bone injuries.
Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate “BMAC” is a minimally invasive autologous blood therapy procedure that uses the patient’s own stem cells in concentrated form to stimulate the healing process. Stem cells play a vital role in every healing process within the body, especially for osteogenesis (bone formation) and angiogenesis (new blood vessel growth).
For the equine athlete suffering from ligament or tendon fiber injuries, platelet rich plasma offers a therapy that is derived from the patient’s own regenerative abilities. Blood from the horse is collected and centrifuged to concentrate blood platelets and a variety of growth factors. These are then injected directly into the injury. This serum matrix aids in the recovery and healing process
Our IRAP (Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist protiein) therapy utilizes a patients own blood and natural therapeutic mechanisms. This system contains beneficial anti-inflammatory and regenerative cytokines that can be re-injected into the patient using sterile technique.
Autologous and allogeneic stem cells are available for treatment of a variety of musculoskeletal conditions that involve tendons, ligaments and joints. This may involve collections of bone marrow or fat that is then processed/purified/cultured and re-injected into the damaged tissue area.
