MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the most powerful veterinary imaging tools available.  It provides detailed images of bone and soft tissues in a horses lower limbs and can identify areas of inflammation when radiographs and ultrasound can't detect the abnormality.  MRI is recommended for identifying the injuries that are not evident using other modalities, better characterizing known injuries, monitoring healing of injuries, and evaluating the structure of the foot or lower limb.

Why use standing MRI?

Standing MRI systems provide a number of benefits over traditional, anesthetized MRIs. It is much quicker, more cost-effective than traditional MRIs, and the standing system allows horse owners to avoid the risks of general anesthesia.

Standing MRI offers equine veterinarians the opportunity to conduct safe diagnostics earlier in the process of lameness exams. This early use of MRI technology can help lead to an accurate diagnosis faster.
